2. You Shall Not Make Yourself An Idol

Exodus 20 v 4-6

 4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

This commandment is far reaching and can easily be seen as the Commandment that requires Wisdom.

Certainly in today’sage, where the media has brought forth so many entertainers from a round the world right into our living rooms.

On a daily basis the Media brings forth the gossip of certain celebrities, in doing so, the people forget that their idolising is a real form of sin.

Lets take for example Oprah Winfrey and her world wide launch of her new class (A New Earth) with eckhart tolle.

Millions of people are falling away from the Lord and into the false teachings of someone who has rejected the Lord as Savior.

Those people who are getting on their computers on Monday Nights have no idea, how they are breaking Gods 2nd Commandment, that there should be no other Gods before Him.

We even have a show called American Idol, here too the people squeeze in to listen to young people sing their way into Celebrity and become the Next American Idol.

Anyone who has read the word should recognise the dangers of following Idols and praising them instead of God.

This Commandment is a Powerful one that punishes the children of those who have sinned in this way for three and four generations.

As well as showing great Love to ALL who Obey this and recognise that there is Only One God, and He alone should be worshipped and praised and none other, this is the Power of the 2nd Commandment.
